Members at Large Role

The Negotiation Committee is set by Article 2 of the CEU Bylaws. It consists of: all Executive Board members, 4 Members at Large who are elected by the Membership, the CLRO, and any Staff they assign.
The Negotiation Committee reviews the bargaining proposals put together by the CLRO and President, and ultimately approves a bargaining package for the Negotiation Team to take to the bargaining table. The Negotiation Team is comprised of the CLRO (spokesperson at the table), President, and 3 Members elected from, and by, the Negotiation Committee. The Negotiation Team are the individuals who attend and sit at the bargaining table on behalf of CEU. All Negotiation Committee members, however, sit on subcommittees related to bargaining, and often, are required to perform work tasks with very little notice, at odd hours, related to: communication with Members, essential services information gathering, job action coordination, strike activities leadership etc. Committee members are expected to work long hours as volunteers (ie. no extra pay) in demanding and stressful bargaining situations.
Negotiation Committee members also have strict rules of confidentiality. Committee discussions within the Committee cannot be disclosed.
